If you drive about a hundred miles east of El Paso you will find yourself surrounded by a very diverse landscape. The first thing you will pass is the salt flat, then you will climb until you reach the entrance to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The views in this area are amazing. In the heart of downtown El Paso you will find a 14-foot statue of Fray Garcia de San Francisco. This statue is the first of the twelve travelers series. Garcia de San Francisco established the first Mission in the El Paso area.
